Sunday mornings during worship 10:00 am -11:00 am

Children’s Sunday School at Highlands is a place where kids are known, welcomed, and encouraged to grow in faith at their own pace.

Each Sunday, children begin in worship with their families and are invited forward for a special time before heading to class. This rhythm helps them feel that they fully belong in the life of the church while also having space designed just for them. In Sunday School, children explore Bible stories through creativity, play, conversation, and hands-on activities. We focus on the big themes of our faith—love, justice, courage, belonging, and care for one another—so that children can connect the stories of Scripture with their everyday lives.

The seasons are changing this week! We’ll return to Ecclesiastes and its reminder that there is a season for everything. We’ll also talk about how our faith can help us turn the page, begin again, and find a fresh start, even after a tough day.

About Authenticity

It’s important to be who we truly are and love ourselves for who we are! We’ll read Bible verses that affirm us in our identity and talk about how Jesus loved and welcomed people for exactly who they were.

What’s Your Name?

Names can tell important stories about who we are. We’ll explore people in the Bible whose names changed and learn about naming traditions from around the world.

Putting on Masks

As Halloween approaches, we’ll use masks and costumes to explore a bigger question: How do we show the world who we are? We’ll talk about how names, clothing, appearance, and behavior can shape the way people see us—and the expectations they place on us.

Monsters Among Men

We’ll meet some of the Bible’s heroes and villains and think about how even small actions can have a big effect on others. Together, we’ll explore the words and actions that can make someone feel small, help them stand tall, or sometimes do either.

Faith and Fear

We’re all afraid of something! This week, we’ll talk about fear, courage, and how our faith can guide us when we’re scared or unsure what to do. We’ll decorate faith shields as reminders of the things that help us feel strong and protected.
