Music & Other Worship Arts

 

Highlands UMC Chancel Choir rehearses each Wednesday evening at 7pm in the sanctuary, from September through May. We are always open to new members (no experience necessary!) and eager to see some new faces taking part in our music ministry.  During the summer Pastor Kerry schedules individuals and small ensembles to provide special music during worship.

 

Ivan Barney has been our accompanist since September 2010.  Ivan has extensive training and experience as a church musician, and we are very blessed to have him.

 

Pastor Kerry acts as Music Director for Highlands UMC, and is compiling a list of "hidden talents" among our congregation. If you play an instrument or might sing occasionally (even if you can't commit to weekly rehearsals), please let her know.

 

We also need folks to take part in occasional skits, storytelling, dramatic reading of scripture, and other arts in worship. The schedule is flexible and we ask only a minimal commitment (once every few months), but it is a wonderful opportunity to explore new ways of bringing the Word to life!
